STORY
Bay State Remodeling helped brighten this Newton MA home while also adding more convenience and functionality throughout. The remodeling project including completely remodeling a half bathroom on the first floor to convert it into a full bath with shower for added convenience for guests. In addition, Bay State Remodeling remodeled the kitchen and adjacent sunroom to create a more modern design, add new features for convenience, and bring in even more of the gorgeous natural light from the sunroom into the rest of the house.
In order to create a more spacious bathroom, Bay State Refinishing and Remodeling had to completely demo the bathroom to the studs. Once the demolition was completed, Bay State Remodeling took to relocating the existing fixtures to better utilize the space and make room for the new shower. The toilet was moved to a new location and Bay State Remodeling made one of the new walls of the shower a closed frame so that the vanity could be installed next to it. A frameless glass enclosure was also used to help provide an open flow design.
In the kitchen and the adjacent sunroom, Bay State Refinishing & Removing removed all of the wall, ceiling, and floor coverings, such as wallpaper and tiles. In addition, the entire area was rewired and new, recessed lights and ceiling fixtures were installed throughout. In addition, based on the plans drawn by Bay State Remodeling’s structural engineer, the load-bearing wall between the sunroom and kitchen was removed and replaced with a new peninsula.
A new kitchen sink was also installed in the newly-created peninsula and a toe kick heat was installed under the kitchen cabinets. Finally, new skylight windows and french doors were installed in the sunroom to create an amazing open concept that helps drive more natural light from the sunroom throughout the home.
