This whole-house renovation of the historic Queen Anne-style home on Auburndale Ave., Newton, Massachusetts, was undertaken by Bay State Remodeling, a design-build contractor in Newton.
Both the exterior and interior of this three-story, 1895-era home were completely remodeled. The team meticulously preserved the historic detailing while updating the kitchen, bathrooms, attic, turret, and basement. The original wood flooring and moldings were kept throughout wherever possible. The refinished wood flooring creates a gleaming expanse with one space flowing into the next. Upgrading windows throughout the house enhance energy efficiency.
The kitchen remodeling in this Newton, Mass., home included removing interior walls between the kitchen and dining room to harmonize with the open layout of the living spaces. The Bay State team also updated appliances and cabinets, replaced plumbing, updated lighting, added marble countertops, and created a central island.
The extensive Newton bathroom remodeling included converting one of the attic’s three bedrooms into a stunning bathroom. On the second floor, we converted one bedroom into a spacious master bath and a walk-in closet. The marble flooring and walls and glass shower surround gleam in the natural light from the large window. We also updated the existing second-floor bath and added a laundry room.
Our Newton attic remodeling incorporated the slope of the eaves into the design of the bath, landing, and bedrooms, creating a contrast of simplicity and sophistication of line and textures throughout the space.
Our team removed the deteriorated shingles on the exterior, repaired water damage to the building envelope, and restored the siding and trim. We added a white picket fence around the property boundary to echo the design of the railings on the wraparound porch.
