Measuring is the quiet step most homeowners do not see. It usually runs 90 minutes to two hours and produces the take-off list we order from.
What we measure
- Overall room dimensions — wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling, and diagonal to check for square
- Windows and doors — rough openings, trim depth, header height
- Plumbing locations — supply stubs, drain centers, toilet flange center from finished wall
- Electrical locations — existing fixture heights, switch heights, receptacle locations
- Ceiling conditions — joist direction, height variation, any beams
- Path from driveway or front door — stair turns, narrow hallways, door swing
Why the path matters
A 60-inch vanity might not fit around a tight stair landing. We measure the path before we spec the vanity — it avoids the painful scene where a finish piece shows up and cannot get to the room.
The take-off
Measurements become a take-off list. Every tile, every cabinet, every fixture gets a quantity with a model number. The take-off goes into the proposal and then into the procurement schedule. No surprises at the jobsite.
What we ask you to do
Clear the vanity and shower before we arrive. Have the current bath actually in use — we want to see how you use the room. Small details (where you put your toothbrush, where the hamper lives) change small design decisions later.

A 30-minute consult is usually enough to confirm whether we are the right fit.
