Bay State Renovation undertook a whole-house renovation that included the kitchen, living room, dining room, hallway and bathroom in the historic Boston neighborhood of Roslindale. We modernized the home without compromising the charm and feel of the historic features. Here, we highlight the dramatic transformation of the bathroom, contrasting dark and light, pattern and texture to give a modern feel to the room.
We used black polished granite tiles in the shower, contrasting large, rectangular flat tiles with filetti-style, 3-dimensional tiles. The smoothly polished surface of both formats and the consistency of color give a crisp appearance and tie the look together.
The walls and floor include hints of black, grey and ash that add variety in hues and enhance the natural light. The white toilet, sink and vanity contrast with the dramatic black shower. The boat-shaped tub serves as the focal point of the room. Black plumbing fixtures on the tub pull the look together.
